Surface Dressing Tar and Chipping

Peter Daw Surfacing Contractors recognise the increased demand for decorative finishes and functional surfaces, surface dressing has become increasingly popular and the process consists of the spraying of hot bitumen followed by a layer of chippings, which are available in coloured granite and shingled aggregates.

What is Surface Dressing?

Surface Dressing or Tar and Chipping is when a hot bitumen binder is sprayed on to the cleaned and prepared road surface with our road tanker with the use of a hand lance or a spray bar. This process is followed by an even covering of chippings, which are either 6mm or 10mm in size, and these are applied by our mechanical chipping spreaders. Once the laying stage is complete the stone dressing is rolled with our pneumatic tyred roller.

We can offer a variety of stone chippings and colours including Ghyll Scar Granite, Ingleton Green and Pink Granite

* We can supply samples of each before surfacing
